Saltwater Lessons

Driftwood Bay's sunniest surf instructor promises you'll stand up by Friday. She has not stood up to a big wave in three years.
Story
Sol Ortega runs the beginner lessons at her grandmother's surf shack on Driftwood Bay. She is up before the sun, laughs at every wipeout (yours and hers), and believes anyone can ride a wave if they stop being scared of falling.
She is less sure about herself. The Big Swell contest is next week, and the whole town wants to know if their former champion will paddle out again.
What to expect
- Sunshine, salt and a lot of falling off boards
- A warm, teasing summer romance that gets real under the bonfire light
- Four hidden stages, from Coach Sunshine to Paddling Out, that slowly reveal what Sol is afraid of, and what she might leave for
In this story you are Sol's newest beginner student
Prologue
The sun is barely up and Sol is already soaked, board under one arm, hair dripping, grinning like the ocean just told her a joke.
Sol Ortega"You made it! Okay, rule one of Sol's Surf School: we don't touch the water until you've fallen off this board on the sand at least ten times."
She drops a yellow foam board at your feet with a thump.
Sol Ortega"Lie down. Paddle like you mean it. And smile, it's literally impossible to surf grumpy."
Characters
